Skin Resurfacing Treatment
A skin resurfacing treatment is commonly known in the aesthetic and beauty industry as a chemical peel.
Although the name sounds quite frightening, the treatment is extremely valuable in cellular regeneration and collagen production.
At Blackabey’s we provide 3 course and 6 course treatments using customised Alumier MD chemical peel products. This is tailored completely to your skins needs and Dr Victoria monitors your skin health and your safety throughout the procedure. You are in hands you can trust.
A lot of patients are scared of chemical peels however please be reassured that Dr Victoria has been trained in cosmetic dermatology at the harley academy and provides a wide range of peels; from very mild (minimal to no downtime) to much stronger peels depending on your skin needs.
If you are considering your first peel, Dr Victoria will go through the complete process at your face-to-face consultation and starts with a very mild treatment to build your confidence and also prepare your skin for future treatments.

-
A chemical peel is a treatment applied to the skin that will help to remove the most superficial layer of skin cells, leading to cell regeneration. This is a fantastic tool to use as an in-clinic treatment in order improve skin texture, pores and blackheads as well as pigmentation changes.
-
It is commonly used in the clinic to the face, neck and décolleté however it can be used in other parts of the body also.
-
We provide skin resurfacing treatments as either a course of 3 or 6 in order to achieve successful results. This is used to complement an excellent skincare routine. The treatment is repeated usually every 4-6 weeks.
-
For superficial treatments it will take up to 1 hour. For deeper treatments this can vary and will be discussed with you at your consultation with Dr Victoria
-
All risks and benefits are discussed at your consultation and there is a 2 week cooling off period before your treatment appointment in order for you to ask any other questions you may have in the meantime. The main risks are:
Tenderness
Redness
Sensitivity
Pigment changes
Allergic reaction
-
Dr Victoria will discuss this with you both at the face-to-face consultation and you will also be provided with aftercare forms after the procedure.
After the procedure you will notice redness. This will settle after 24-48 hours.
We advice for 24 hours:
No ibuprofen/aspirin unless advised to do so by Dr Victoria
No alcohol
No saunas/ steam rooms/ strenuous exercise
We also advise not to touch the face following treatment as this can introduce infection as well as changing to a new pillowcase at night.
As part of the course of treatment, you will be provided with a post treatment package which includes a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser and an SPF. This is your routine for 5 days after your chemical peel. After 5 days you can return to your normal routine.
You will also be provided with emergency information after the procedure in case of an emergency and a detailed description of symptoms to look out for.
Please note: treatments with superficial peels can be performed 48 hours prior to a special event. Deeper peels need a much longer downtime and are not suitable close to a special event so please take this into account.
We also advise no other treatments for 2 weeks after treatment with Botulinum toxin or dermal filler. Dr Victoria may cancel your treatment if your safety is put at risk.
