Dermal fillers
Dermal Filler Treatment
Dermal fillers are an injectable substance often containing hyaluronic acid.
Dermal fillers can be used in a multitude of different ways both to enhance (or beautify) certain features and also to replace loss of structure to the building blocks of the facial skeleton as we age.
There are many different dermal fillers on the market and dr Victoria will choose the premium dermal filler product that is most suitable for you and the results you are aiming to achieve.
dermal fillers should be injected in a sterile environment due to the significant infection risk. Dr Victoria will also not inject dermal filler if you have an active infection, have a special event in the near future or you are going on holiday. Decisions not to treat with dermal filler are only taken when your safety is at risk. Dr Victoria will explain the risks and downtime in more detail at your face-to-face consultation as they differ depending on the type of dermal filler to be used and where it is to be injected.
If you want to read more about dermal filler read our blog by clicking here.
There is also a summary about dermal filler below for you to read. However please note treatment with dermal filler can be complex and will differ person to person. Dr Victoria will discuss all options and suitability of treatment at your face-to-face consultation.

Most dermal fillers used by Dr Victoria contain local anaesthetic, however, for more delicate areas such as lips and an anaesthetic cream is applied for at least 30-45 minutes before the treatment can be performed.
The treatment itself essentially takes as long as it takes to get optimum results however on average the treatment time will be at least 45 minutes not including anaesthetic cream application.

Dr Victoria will discuss this with you both at the face-to-face consultation and you will also be provided with aftercare forms after the procedure.
After the procedure you will notice swelling and sometimes redness. This can initially increase for up to 24-48 hours and can take a further 72 hours to completely settle. It is entirely dependant on the area injection and your bodily make up.
We advice for 24 hours
No ibuprofen/aspirin unless advised to do so by Dr Victoria
No alcohol
No saunas/ steam rooms/ strenuous exercise
We also advise not to touch the face following treatment as this can introduce infection as well as changing to a new pillowcase at night.
We also advice a gentle cleanser the night following your treatment with normal routine to start the following day unless Dr Victoria comments otherwise at your treatment.
You will also be provided with emergency information after the procedure in case of an emergency and a detailed description of symptoms to look out for.
Please note: treatments with Botulinum toxin and dermal filler are not suitable with a special event due to downtime so please take this into account. We also advise no travel and no other treatments for 2 weeks after treatment with Botulinum toxin or dermal filler. Dr Victoria may cancel your treatment if your safety is put at risk.
