Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy Treatment
One of the ways we boost the skin at Blackabeys is with a treatment called mesotherapy. We first of all numb your skin and use a medical grade microneedling pen to make tiny punctures in the skin barrier. Once we have done this we use a cocktail of different solutions designed specifically for you to massage into the skin gently. With the skin barrier being open from microneedling, the absorption of the skin booster or mesococktail is increased dramatically.
This treatment is perfect not only for a fantastic skin boosting glow but is also fantastic at increasing cell turnover and new collagen production. This means that if you suffer from acne scarring, pigmentation, rosacea, skin texture, elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles this is a perfect addition to your at home skincare routine and can be repeated every 4-6 weeks to make sure you get all the benefits from your new skincare regime.
You can read more about microneedling by clicking here. Alternatively, click here to read our blog with more information on other skin boosters available in the clinic.

Mesotherapy is a cocktail of ingredients that have been tailored to your skin needs. They are either injected directly into the skin or at Blackabey’s we use a microneedling pen to temporarily breach the skin barrier and massage the mesotherapy into the skin.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
-
The best way to see mesotherapy is as a tool to improve your skin health. Results are progressive and therefore we either provide a 3 or 6 course treatment plan. The treatment is usually repeated every 4-6 weeks.
-
Prior to treatment, local anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes prior to treatment. The treatment itself lasts around 20-30 minutes maximum to perform the microneedling process with mesotherapy. Further time will be needed if multiple areas are being treated.

The risks and benefits of treatment will be discussed with you by Dr Victoria at your consultation. You will also have a two week cooling off period prior to your appointment to ask any further questions you may have.
The main risks are:
Pain
Bleeding
Infection
Allergic reaction
-
Dr Victoria will discuss this with you both at the face-to-face consultation and you will also be provided with aftercare forms after the procedure.
After the procedure you will notice swelling and sometimes redness or spot bleeding from the micro needling. This will settle after 24-48 hours.
We advice for 24 hours:
No ibuprofen/aspirin unless advised to do so by Dr Victoria
No alcohol
No saunas/ steam rooms/ strenuous exercise
We also advise not to touch the face following treatment as this can introduce infection as well as changing to a new pillowcase at night.
We advice a gentle cleanser the night following your treatment with normal routine to start the following day unless Dr Victoria comments otherwise at your treatment.
You will also be provided with emergency information after the procedure in case of an emergency and a detailed description of symptoms to look out for.
Please note: treatments with microneedling are not suitable close to a special event due to downtime so please take this into account. We also advise no other treatments for 2 weeks after treatment with Botulinum toxin or dermal filler. Dr Victoria may cancel your treatment if your safety is put at risk.
